Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Dorette Franks, RDN, is the founder of NUTRITION pH. Her specialties include sports and plant-based nutrition, weight management, women’s health, and medical nutrition therapy (MNT). She is a certified Metabolic Efficiency Training Specialist© for Health and Medical practitioners, and holds a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Dorette completed a Graduate Certificate in Dietetic Internship from Iowa State University and Bachelors of Science in Dietetics from San Francisco State University. At present, she is applying to complete the CSSD exam (Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics), and Masters degree in Sports and Integrative Nutrition.
Health Education Instructor. You can count on receiving much more than a meal-plan when working with Dorette! She is a facilitator in motivating behavior change on behalf of Kaiser Permanente. for Healthy Weight, Pre-Diabetes, Diabetes, Medical Weight Management, and Weight Loss Surgery classes.
Public Figure. Dorette continues to lead and inspire a broad range of individuals in behavior change leading to remarkable results! She can be found presenting to First Responders, (Southern Marin Fire Protection District), corporate wellness (Columbus Foods), leading women’s training events, and much more.
Endurance Coach. As co-founder of Trifiniti Endurance, a multi-sport endurance performance training company, both Dorette and her husband, Duane Franks, MS (founder of Trifiniti), coach runners, swimmers, cyclists and triathletes to outstanding performances and health. What makes this couple uber dynamic is that Coach Duane holds a masters in exercise physiology. Their coupled approach is backed in science and over 54 years of combined experience! Dorette holds coaching credentials with USA Triathlon, USA Track and Field, and RRCA (Road Runner’s Club of America).
Head Coach for the Nike Women’s Marathon in 2004 and 2005, Dorette continues to lead and inspire groups and individuals. She served as head coach for the Golden Gate Triathlon Club’s “Women for Tri” training program and track coach during 2007 to 2017. Another key point in her career was coaching on behalf of the San Francisco AIDS Foundations “Be Greater than One” Marathon and triathlon training program. Numerous runners and triathletes have successfully completed, PR-ed (personal record), and qualified for the Boston Marathon under her coaching expertise. Her athletes have completed a variety of races, including: Ironman and Ironman 70.3 events, Wildflower triathlons, the Escape from Alcatraz, the San Francisco Half & Full Marathon, The Northface Endurance events, and many many others.
Freelance Writer. Her training plans and nutrition tips have been published by Triathlete, Shape, Runner’s World, and Women’s Health Magazines. She has also written on behalf of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Sports Cardiovascular Health and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) blog and newsletter, and Mio Global.
Competitive Athlete. Dorette began her race career in 2000. Her dedication to sport in has led to top age-group performance finishes, including 1st in division at in Ultraman Canada, qualifying to race the USAT Long Course Age-Group Nationals where she then qualified to race for Team USA at the ITU World Championship Long Course Triathlon, and a 1st in division and 3rd overall female at the Full Vineman Triathlon. She is a 6-time Ironman finisher, 3-time Boston Marathon Qualifier, and an ultra-marathon runner (Phew!). From the Olympic distance triathlon, half marathon, and even SUP, she continues to place in the top of her division and on the podium.
This year, Dorette enters her 5th season racing on the Elite Squad for Team Betty!
